Ford Mustang Wrecked by Police Spike Strip After Daring Chase on Famous LA Street

Two men in a supercharged Ford Mustang led the Los Angeles Police Department on a daring high-speed chase along the city’s famous Mulholland Drive on Thursday, narrowly missing onlookers there to soak up its picturesque views.
The newer-model black Mustang can be seen in video obtained by the California Post speeding away from LAPD cruisers, taking the cliffside road’s sharp turns in a very risky fashion. The video also shows the car getting very close to people on the side of the road who were likely not expecting to see a high-speed chase interrupt their view of downtown Los Angeles.

Mulholland Drive is a narrow roadway in the Santa Monica Mountains that is famous for its views.
The chase continued until police managed to deploy spike strips in the Mustang’s path, sending it crashing into some bushes outside of a home. The Post reports that one of the suspects tried to flee the scene after the car crashed, destroying its front end. However, the man did not get more than a few steps away from the vehicle before he fell to the ground, needing medical attention.

A second man reportedly appeared uninjured from the crash and could be heard telling police he was the passenger in the vehicle and had just gotten out of “the joint” for felony evading. Despite his prior charge, he boasted that if he had been the driver, police never would have caught him.
No other injuries were reported.
