8 Vandals Who Caused More Than $100K in Damages Cram Into Stolen Durango for Wild 100-Mph Police Chase

Four men accused of taking part in a violent smash-and-grab burglary on a gaming cafe in Illinois will be detained pending trial after allegedly causing more than $100,000 worth of damage in the early-morning break-in that lasted approximately two minutes.
Keonte Adams, Dajuan Johnson, Kyronte McCondichie, and Daryl Nesbit made their first court appearance on October 30, per a press statement from the Dupage County State’s Attorney’s Office. They were charged with armed violence, unlawful possession of a machine gun, burglary, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, criminal damage to property and aggravated fleeing and eluding.
The arrests of Adams, 20, Johnson, 24, McCondichie, 20, and Nesbit, 19, came after they and four other suspects allegedly led police on a wild high-speed chase that saw all eight suspects crammed into one stolen Dodge Durango, according to the statement.
It began as a proactive measure by the Addison Police Department and other DuPage County law enforcement agencies following a recent rash of burglaries at local gaming establishments, per the release.

Officers were strategically positioned on October 29, according to the statement, when two vehicles — a black Durango and a white BMW — that had been reported stolen, per police, allegedly backed in front of Maria’s Gaming Café in Addison, Illinois, at approximately 4:37 a.m.
Police alleged that five individuals, four of them armed, jumped out of the vehicles and broke into the business with sledgehammers and a crowbar. They were allegedly inside just two minutes, per the statement, during which they allegedly smashed the gaming machines with the sledgehammers and fled with cash boxes containing $13,847. They also allegedly caused more than $100,000 worth of damage.
After fleeing the scene in both vehicles, per the statement, the BMW allegedly ran over spike strips, after which police allege its three occupants jumped into the Durango, bringing its total occupancy to eight. That vehicle allegedly ignored police lights and sirens and led them on a long chase at speeds sometimes exceeding 100 mph.

When the Durango was also disabled by spike strips, per police, the suspects allegedly fled on foot, crossing I-290 and making their way into a neighborhood. A foot pursuit utilizing K-9 units and drones led to four of the alleged suspects being taken into custody, per the report.
Multiple firearms were reportedly recovered in and around the Durango, per the release, including a modified semi-automatic Glock 22 that had been converted into a fully automatic weapon. Police reportedly found four additional guns, two sledgehammers and a crowbar.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in the statement, “Businesses in our community should not have to operate in fear that their windows will be broken, doors kicked in and, in a moment, their property and livelihood stolen or destroyed, by a group of armed individuals who terrorize the community with no regard for the rule of law.”
The defendants’ next court date is set for November 23. They have not yet been formally arraigned or entered a plea.
